Tobacco leaf picking is one of the most sensitive and important stages in the tobacco production process, which has a direct impact on the final quality of the product.
This stage is usually carried out after the leaves reach a certain physiology and requires precision, experience and proper timing. According to the agricultural manager of the Golestan Tobacco Complex, the time for tobacco leaf picking is approximately from mid-July to September.
He stated that climatic conditions, suitable spring rainfall and moderate summer heat are favorable conditions for leaf growth.
Seraji said: Leaf picking is carried out in several stages, because the lower leaves ripen earlier and the upper leaves later, and in each stage, usually 2 to 4 leaves are harvested from each plant. This stage is usually carried out in the presence of experienced farmers and supervised by technical experts and extension staff, and will be prepared for drying and processing.
